Sam Davis has been part of the Vermont running tradition for over 36 years. Beginning with his collegiate career at UVM, Sam was a Cross Country Champion and record holder at both the 5000 Meters (outdoor) and Distance Medley Relay (indoor). As a post-collegiate runner, Sam has had a well rounded running career competing in the Marathon (2:32 PR), Half Marathon (1:08 PR), 10k (30:00 PR), and is an Inductee into the RunVermont Hall of Fame. Accomplishments aside, Sam’s passion for running is obvious to anyone who’s had the pleasure to interact with him. His certification as a USA Track & Field Level 2 Endurance Coach, instructor of the Marathon 201 and Half Marathon 101 class for RunVermont since 2005 and the number of athletes he has assisted in training in the past, are a testament to his dedication to the sport of running. We are thrilled to have him as a member of our team!

Slow Motion Video & Gait Analysis and Biomechanical Evaluation
Slow Motion Video & Gait Analysis and Biomechanical Evaluation from different angles not only helps your coach analyze your stride, but also provides valuable information for you to learn about your running technique. A Green Mountain Rehab Physical Therapist will assist in this process to help identify and correct poor biomechanics, reduce your risk of injury, and help improve your performance.
Strength & Flexibility Testing
This clinical assessment involves a Selective Functional Movement Screen (SFMA) which consists of a series of normal functional movements. Abnormal movements, weakness and limited mobility can be determined during this testing which may indicate reasons for poor performance or injury. This testing will be administered by a licensed physical therapist.
Training Programs and Ongoing Coaching
Are you either training for a specific goal race or just need some advice on coaching for the next 30, 60 or 90 days? Sam can create custom, personalized training programs for all distances and levels, from first time 5k runners to experienced competitive marathoners as well as help you develop more effective and efficient training techniques. We can tailor this to just what you are looking for.
VO2 Max Testing
Consider your true potential by getting a scientific and valid VO2 max test with Maximum Heart Rate and target calculations. Develop a scientific plan to enhance your VO2 max and threshold training. This testing is done with exercise physiologist Declan Connolly from the University of Vermont.
Nutrition is often overlooked and is probably the most important piece of the training program. We know that working with a licensed nutritionist offers benefits beyond anything we can offer. We highly recommend Kim Evans, RD, CD, at the Vermont Center for Integrative Therapy.
