Self-Test for Shoulder Impingement Pain
We had something cool happen to one of our patients, that we wanted to share with you. For us, it was a typical response to hands-on manual treatment of impingement. To our patient, her 7 months of pain was finally gone. She came in with severe shoulder pain that was really affecting her quality of life. She had been dealing with this for over 7 months after hitting a deer while driving home from work. I’ll talk more about her in a second.
We began wondering this morning, do you or anyone you care about struggle with the same kinds of shoulder problems just like our patient? And you do not know what to do? We wondered how many people out there have these kind of shoulder problems that we can easily help. Naturally, without meds. I’m talking about things like reaching up to a shelf, or behind your back when you’re getting dressed? Do you have pain when you reach into the back seat of your car? Does your shoulder bother you when you sleep on it at night? Maybe, you have a spouse or a close friend that you’ve seen have these problems.
If so, we have something that might help you.
It’s our 30 Second Self-Test for Shoulder Pain that will help you identify what may be causing your shoulder problem.
Luckily, if you identify what is causing your shoulder pain early enough there are steps you can take to reverse it!! But first, we want to see what is really going on.
Here’s the test
With the painful arm, grab your opposite shoulder and place palm on shoulder. Yes, give yourself a little hug.
Now try to raise your elbow up to your forehead, without lowering your head down. Compare this same test to your opposite arm. Feel different? Do you have any pain?
(see picture above)
If there’s a difference from side to side… then there’s a really good chance you may have the beginning signs of what we call shoulder impingement.
Remember our patient?… She had severe pain with this test and could not raise her elbow above her chin. 7 months is a long time to be suffering with pain!! After some hands-on treatment and her being really good at performing her daily stretches, her 7 months of pain was gone in one month. She now can raise her elbow to her forehead without pain. Pretty cool huh!
