Coronavirus – Better Safe Than Sorry
That is our philosophy here at Green Mt Rehab & Sports Medicine. As usual we follow safe and effective guidelines to prevent spread of infection. However, we have to ramp up our prevention techniques with this serious threat of Coronavirus.
Should I still go to PT?
Some injuries can not wait and need professional guidance. We want to continue to provide excellent care for our patients in a safe environment. In order to do this we have started disinfecting all equipment after every use. Not just cleaning every table and changing every pillowcase. Every dumbbell, ball, treadmill, bike, etc has been disinfected and will continue to be disinfected after each use.
We no longer will be using community theraband, unless you use your own, which we can provide for you. Theraband is simply too difficult to disinfect.
We use bleach (1/2 cup per gallon water) per recommendations of World Health Organization in order to disinfect our equipment.
No, bleach is not bad for our environment or your skin. It breaks down into mostly salt and water. If not diluted properly, bleach can be very harmful, which is where the common misconception stems. Bleach is highly effective at preventing the spread of infection, and again, the 1/2 cup per gallon of water is recommended by WHO, World Health Organization as being most effective for disinfecting surfaces.
We are taking this serious. We hope you will too. Wash your hands, OFTEN. Avoid touching your face. Cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing with your elbow. Wash your hands again. And no hugs. 🙁
Do not go out in the community if you feel sick, and definitely do not come to PT. We can help you over the phone and send you information using videos to make sure you continue to advance. Worst case scenario, we will get back to normal when you recover from your sickness. Whatever set back you may get from not attending PT, we will get you back to where you want to be.
Be smart, safe and stay healthy.
